Dr. Yuri Niella
Dr Yuri Niella, is the Science Officer at the Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) Animal Tracking Facility, based at the Sydney Institute of Marine Science. He has more than a decade of experience in animal tracking, having studied the movements of large sharks since obtaining his Master’s degree in Biological Oceanography.
Yuri has been developing world-leading tools to analyse animal telemetry data since his PhD in Marine Ecology at Macquarie University in 2020. He oversees the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the IMOS Australian Animal Acoustic Telemetry Database with the Australian Ocean Data Network, and uses his advanced coding and analyses expertise to support the Australian research community to better interrogate, process and analyse acoustic telemetry data.
