It also provides physical climate risk scores, showing how climate change may affect hazard exposure now and in the future.
PerilAUS is a comprehensive database of natural hazard impacts in Australia, supporting risk assessment and public safety policies. It contains records dating back to European settlement (1788), with high confidence from 1900 onwards. PerilAUS has been widely used to inform risk communication and develop public safety strategies for emergency services across Australia.
The National Flood Information Database (NFID), developed by Risk Frontiers and Willis Re Australia for the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA), provides detailed flood risk data for 13.4 million addresses, including Flood Exclusion Zones for lower-risk areas. This forms the hazard foundation for FloodAUS, supplemented by Risk Frontiers’ internal flood data where needed to enhance accuracy and coverage.
