Senior Risk Scientist
Thomas specialises in the development of our flood and storm surge loss models and climate change services. Thomas has a background in coastal engineering and holds a PhD in Environmental Science.
Thomas is a Risk Scientist specializing in modelling hazards in the coastal zone, in particular coastal erosion, storm surge and tsunami inundation risk. His work involves the statistical and geospatial analyses of climate-ocean data with numerical wave and flow modelling.
Thomas has extensive experience in topographic and hydrographic surveying and has worked for local government in the UK as a coastal engineer where he attained his Chartered Engineer accreditation. His active research profile includes a particular interest in the impacts of climate change on extreme wave events and coastal response.
Thomas holds a degree in Oceanography, a Masters in Coastal Engineering and a PhD looking at the impacts of wave climate change on the Southeast Australian coast.
