Ryan leads the modelling and research group responsible for the strategic direction and development of Risk Frontiers’ catastrophe models, climate and research solutions. Ryan has a PhD in Natural Hazards.
Ryan has expertise in numerical and probabilistic modelling and quantitative risk analysis and specialises in probabilistic tropical cyclone and severe storm loss modelling.
Ryan’s research interests include current and projected relationships between weather-related natural disaster losses and climate change and the implications these have for policy. In 2013 he appeared at the Australian Senate’s Environment and Communications References Committee inquiry into recent trends in, and preparedness for, extreme weather events. He is the author of numerous scientific and industry publications.
Ryan has a BSc (Advanced Mathematics), Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and a PhD in Natural Hazards from Macquarie University.
